hi
finally getting the hang of this blogging now - it’s actually quite theraputic to waffle on about your day but i’ll try not to be too boring because i must say you do read some people’s blog and think “is anyone actually interested in all this nonsense?”
so trials for today were choosing paving slabs, sorting out albums of the month and books for the month which we are late on this month but because of the sale, figure none of you are too worried about that! But i must say that it would be great to get more feedback from publishers about new and up and coming releases so that i don’t always have to rely on my trawling of publishers sites, amazon, friends etc to vouch for what’s good and essential to read! So a big shout out to any publishers - put us on the mailing list for suitable titles - anything pretty much goes as long as it’s useful, relevant to ladies, informative, autobiographical (we love those), helpful, funny - actually it doesn’t really matter but it’s probably not rocket science to work out what will be good for the site!
Just prepping for the shows now over next few weeks and just a reminder of contact details - info@whatagirlneeds.co.uk if you think you have any relevant ideas, products, accessories etc that would be good for us! Plus we also want to start advertising on the site so feel free to come to us with suggestions - a full rate card (but also very reasonable!!!)etc is being worked on but we are open to any ideas that any of you may have!!
So back to putting our heads into trade fair guides so we don’t spend the whole of our time walking up and down aisles looking for people - so over doing that! Preparation is key - these trips may sound like fun, but they are hardcore! Sensible shoes (Loubutins to stay at home - Converse is the trick!!), no alcohol till end of day (otherwise rash, stupid and expensive orders are made with regret on return!) and notepad and camera at the ready!
More as we get it…

Well here I am - back at my desk…. rum punches and snorkelling seems a lifetime away already!! Doesn’t take long to start losing the tan (any tips for keeping it outside of sunbeds???), still haven’t unpacked (no change there then) and going stir crazy bonkers still with jet lag - it’s only 4 hours difference for god’s sake!!!
So back to working out world domination for What a Girl Needs - although last couple of days have spent more time trying to sort my house out and have to say I have impressed myself what having 2 weeks away can achieve with a clear head!!! Have now ordered all bathrooms, gravel for the drive, wallpaper for daughter’s bedroom (fab from House Couturier!! Fantastic - check out their website www.housecouturier.com), all radiators and other bits n pieces including that fab Pidgeon Light from Thorsten Van Elten and some kind of mad mirror for the kitchen that actually looks like an optician’s reading screen - that will annoy the hell out of everyone!!!
But trade fairs kick in from the weekend and Paris looms for Maison D’Objet and Pret so busy few weeks ahead sorting new stock for this year!!!!
Ok - gotta go - daughter still up and that’s not happening… and Chelsea are only 1 up against Wycombe Wanderers which is not good but hopefully they’ll keep it that way and husband won’t be grumpy… (by the way, what is that grey anorak that Jose has started wearing…. bring back the coat!!!)
Later…
Hi - sorry it’s a little late - on my hols and taken me the last few days to work out how to get into the blog when not using my computer! How sad that I run a website and I am possibly the most untechnical person you can ever meet - need to add that the long list of New Year Resolutions that i am making sitting on the beach
But like all good New Years Resolutions they are there to be broken and the no alcohol one for January lasted till 11.30 am when Carlos, my faithful waiter on the beach, looked at his watch and said “yep it’s time - 11.30 rum punch time!!!”….. so no surprises there then
Life quietening down a little now on the beach -this place is crazy over the Christmas and New Year but finally, maybe just finally, I am starting to relax and the hammock and my ipod is the best place to be… not so good for the sun tan but we’re not doing so bad…
So major New Year Resolution is to go back to Pilates - they of course do it here everyday but that’s not right - holidays are for doing nothing - so let’s just wait till we get back on the weekend, have no time once again and find 400 excuses not to do it…. yep business as normal….
Met some great people this holiday - and met a lady who has been coming here for years but finally we met as she has written a book called Chic In Paris and we all had a little cocktail party for her to launch it - she wrote something nice in it for me so have agreed in return to stock the book on the site so look out for it…it’s actually very nice and will look great casually laid on the kitchen table along with the homework, the builders mess etc etc etc but hey gotta start the chic thing somewhere so maybe 2007 will be the year I look fabulous everyday, wear Louboutin every day (because that’s what you should do to be Chic), only wear cashmere, and get my hair done 3 times a week! Essential reading so look out for it in next few weeks!!
And just in case you were thinking “well that’s fabulous enough!”, just thought i would drop in that i am off to a fabulous cocktail party tomorrow night here on the island so more on my return!!
Well sweeties, that’s it for now - gotta go stress on what to wear to that - and i can assure you there’s no Harvey Nichols on the island, but think we may just settle for a little Gharani Strok number we brought with us….
Bye for now…
