Wallywood but not as we know it…

Filed under: Thoughts — katie @ 9:43 pm

Well folks, it’s official - my life in Wallywood is awash with film crews, photographers - finally my time is here - I will be famous - if only for standing in the very large puddle that is the River Thames at the bottom of my garden!!  Only husband could manage to wangle Sky News to visit our house…. no need but hey, it gives a new meaning to Wallingford or as we now fondly call it Wallywood - gotta make it sound somehow glam!!

Just made fleeting visit to Burnham Market to stay with my gorgeous best friend Anna - it’s an annual pilgrimage with no husbands in tow - just grumpy teenagers who are occasionally quite fun and amusing but generally bemoaning the weather and having to continually go shopping!  Only another year probably and then they’re old enough to leave at home for a few hours!!!!!!  Hurrah!!!    So we love The Hoste Arms at Burnham Market for lovely dinners and too much wine, Anna’s shop for too much retail therapy and just generally mooching spending too much money in all the shops if truth be known!

So retail therapy resulted in my most wanted item this week, a Ralph Lauren tweed jacket from new season which I am loving, and most fabulously of all and can’t rave about them enough (and if I knew how to post images on here I would put a picture of them up!), my new Golden Goose boots - very rough and ready and very cool - but do go against my new religion of looking smart all season - but you have to have a day off sometimes and these are the perfect excuse for the day off the Rogers!!

Credit cards are not in good shape - husband is due a flip - no change there then!

Best you all start spending on the site then!  Gotta pay for the habit somehow!!…

Ooh - finally, Avril Gau bags and accessories arrived today - yum………..be on the site early August!  They are a must………

Gotta go - teenager still on phone and time to shout….

number one rule - don’t wear them on escalators - many an injury in Singapore apparently due to croc suction on levelling steps on escalator

sorry to be so down on the croc…

Have I lost the croc…

Filed under: Thoughts — katie @ 6:19 pm

Hello all - just been away for a few days in the delightful village of Pentewan in Cornwall where it is suffice to say that Roger Vivier is not living large down there, therefore allowing me to continue to belong to that small exclusive little club!!  UNLIKE THE REST OF THE CORNISH NATION or perhaps just the tourists or Muggles (went to see Harry Potter - just fab!!!) as they are more known as!

Now as a tourist myself, I could be forgiven for thinking that crocs are de riguer - but they are not and the sooner we all work this out the better.  I get the idea, I even sort of like the Gold Mary Janes but no… it’s not right, they don’t go with everything (as most people seem to think..) and they are truly not flattering to anyone! Well maybe if you are four…

I am sure I deserve to be crushed to a small pulp for being so damming and I truly wish I had  invented them but even if I had, it wouldn’t mean I have to wear them!

Would it….

P.S.  Icing on the cake - last shot of Harry Potter shows the cherry print Converse Boots hanging from the ceiling - how cool that my daughter’s best friend was wearing them in the cinema!!  We love that….

Matin D’Ete….

Filed under: Thoughts — katie @ 1:10 pm

Anybody would think we’ve all gone mad here and everything in our lives must be French!  But it’s time for some shameless plugging for the site and we have found it necessary to tell you all just how fab the Place des Lices range of fragrances, body lotions, soaps etc are and that we sell them at What A Girl Needs Towers and cannot rave about how fab they are!

Not only are the fragrances divine, (our personal favourite being Matin D’Ete,) but the packaging is beautiful and make gorgeous gifts for all concerned!

So there we are - we’re busy ordering up for New Season on all sorts of things so if there’s anything you are all desperate for us to have, just drop us a line - we’re virtually in Christmas mode now which is scary to think but necessary and we know how much you like to get in early before the rush!!

Happy Shopping!!xxx

Roger Vivier…

Filed under: Thoughts — katie @ 5:22 pm

It’s official!  I am in love!  With my new shoes…. I seem to have taken this Belle de Jour thing just a little too far and now am the proud owner of the  most fabulous shoes you have ever seen!  Well this season so far anyway…. and don’t you just love the fact that they “don’t do” sales because they don’t have to!!!  Roger Vivier is so cool that it would be damaging to the brand and to the lady who wears them to cheapen them in anyway…. how much would I love What a Girl Needs to be that cool that we didn’t need to do sales…. well we can only dream and hope and pray that that day comes sooner rather than later and for me,  rest easy in the knowledge that I am still no cheap date!!!!

Just a reminder that there is a Post Office strike tomorrow - I should be grateful that I won’t have to pound the streets with my boxes tomorrow but I am obviously not as it’s not good for business!!

But it does mean my Roger Vivier’s could have an outing without getting ruined in day to day wear and tear….

I must remember the thank the postman when I next see him for this opportunity….

Lost in my own little world…..x

Belle de Jour…

Filed under: Thoughts — katie @ 2:40 pm

Well hello all - little behind on the blog so apologies but got to say the site is doing a roaring trade and quite frankly I just haven’t had the time!

So what’s going on - well I do have a burning question of the day as last night I went to see the movie Belle de Jour with Catherine DeNeuve (how cool and how fab were all her shoes in that film!!)  Anyway, just feel the need to ask anyone out there about this film - just not sure I understood it at the end - just how much of a dream was it…. even husband not sure which is rich since he kept telling me how great a film it was and he hadn’t seen it in years etc etc - so all answers on a postcard on that one please!!!

What else - just been flicking through Vogue - so this season I shall be mainly wearing purple (maybe), a sensible length on the skirt (thank god…), belts to give me a waist…, a fabulous coat of which I am starting my mission this afternoon by visiting Harvey Nichols and no doubt all sorts of gorgeous shoes !!!

So, on that basis, What a Girl Needs raises a toast to the fashion industry to say Congratulations on finally giving us a season that people can wear and actually make us all look like Belle de Jour……….

 Happy Shopping
