Do you ever have days when you have nothing better to do but come up with some mad idea, invention or just a plain silly question that you just need answered???
Well, today I have to say I have been absolutely stunned but at the same time so not surprised by what I learnt today!
As is most days, we trundle down to the Post Office with all of your lovely orders and queue to chat to the lovely ladies behind the desk as they put all our codes and Special deliveries through! Well today was no different except that I had some letters to go to…it’s that time of the month where sadly you have to pay some bills… and I have noticed that those poor girls are not given self sticking stamps to put on people’s letters!

Now as the rest of us seem to be able to manage to buy sticky ones so we don’t have that disgusting ritual to deal with, I find it hard to believe that the Post Office does not issue these to the workers as it were so they equally don’t have to put up with that! So I took it upon myself today to ask the question why???? And the answer is it is apparently cheaper when they have them in bulk like that! Now I suppose I can see the logic. But then, came the complete double whammy ….
EACH STAMP HAS A STICKY COATING ON THE BACK THAT IS ACTUALLY 9 CALORIES PER STAMP………..IE. EACH TIME YOU LICK A STAMP, IT PUTS 9 CALORIES ON YOU…..
Now if I was the Head of the Post Office, I think I would fear for my life every day that at some point a bunch of slightly overweight post mistresses would crash through my door armed with a petition for the SKINNY STAMP…..and that would not be pretty…..
Now come on everybody… surely we can come up with a sugar free version….how hard can it be…even The Queen might agree with that one….

Oh music to our ears!! We just love it here at What a Girl Needs when another product lands on our desk proclaiming revenge on the wrinkle…..
So today we salute Tri-Aktiline as our high tech cocktail weapon of mass destruction on the wrinkle!! Three ingredients that help firm and plump skin’s appearance over time. Gatuline Expression, extracted from the South American Acmella Oleraca plant, helps relax the look of facial tension and expression lines, like crow’s feet. Kombuchka PH Extract, derived from sweet black tea, works to plump wrinkles to appear smoother on the surface. Argireline, or acetyl hexapeptide-3, helps prompt skin into its re-build mode, boosting natural collagen production for long-term visible wrinkle reduction. Well that’s a lot of mumbo to read but it’s good!!
But don’t just take our word for it - it’s only gone and won the CEW (UK) Beauty Awards Best New Anti-Ageing Skincare Product for 2009!! And even better it’s available at Boots!!!
Happy combat!!!

Oh how I love this time of year! Because it means the return of the Tod to my everyday wear….and this week I am absolutely pining for the purple suede shoe… oh my…
There is nothing better on this earth (well that’s a big exaggeration but I am obsessed with them), than the Tod’s loafer - you can never have enough of them - and that purple suede with a tanned foot and a skinny jean in the perfect shade of blue is just gorgeous!

Only problem I can foresee in having a pair of these is actually finding a store that’s got them in stock………
Any help greatly appreciated…..
P.S I am a size 38….xxx
Ok - we couldn’t not mention it….that woman wears colour well! I wish….
Whilst the rest of us struggle with this inbetweeny season of binning the boots and black and freezing in a Current Elliot short jean and French Soles, she just strolls in, wearing a rainbow of colours, all fantastically suited to her colouring and putting the rest of us pasty faced Brits to shame….and as for Mr President, he wears a suit like our Gordon just can’t quite match….
It’s been a joy - the Ipod was cooler than cool and may the showbiz continue… and he actually sounds like he might have achieved something today too….good on you!
We could spend the day pontificating on the G20 Summit or what the protesters have done today but quite frankly everyone else is covering that quite nicely and I really don’t think we need to give them any more column inches so to lighten everyone’s mood we want to say how much we love Sue Pollard!
In a world that only talks about the where the FTSE is doing today (well in my house anyway!) and what Michelle Obama is wearing (although we like talking about that too), to go to the opposite and celebrate her individuality and self confidence gives us something to smile about!
So she doesn’t confirm to this season’s trends - but she has attitude and a self belief that if most people could have a tiny bit of, would change the world overnight! That might be a little OTT but I love her - why does it matter that she wears a skirt too short for perhaps a woman of her tender years…. she’s got great legs and you go girl and shout about it!! I couldn’t wear it but that’s good!
So Sue Pollard - you just stay exactly the same as you have always been and continue to make us smile! We need it!
